(Inspired by the movie “Selma”)
Sometimes you have to be willing to go “back to the bridge” garnering all the support you can. Trust that the hearts of God’s people all bleed one color regardless of the color variety of our outer shells. Watch God order the retreat of your enemy! Stay focused not fearful, prayerful not prideful, and trust. Sometimes even when you hear the voice of God and remain humble, evil will still appear to prevail. Trust and continue to try because reality is-there is NO OTHER WAY.
Sometimes it’s the inspirational words of others or others reminding us of inspiration we’ve given that gives us what we need to keep moving forward when we lose hope, get tired and feel like giving up.
In the movie Selma when MLK is asked to consider driving in on the final leg of the walk to Montgomery and not speaking at the capital for his safety, he refuses to stand down, maintaining “I can’t hide, we can’t hide.” He is asked “don’t you want to protect yourself? I know you want to live to see the fruit of all this.”
MLK says “I’m no different than anyone else. I want to live long and be happy. But I’m not focused on what I want. I’ll be focused on what God wants. We are here for a reason through many many storms. Today the sun is shining and I’ll be standing in the warm sun with many who have worked hard to get us here. I may not be with them for all the sunny days to come but as long as there is light ahead for them, it’s worth it to me.”
I wonder if there is anything you are willing to speak up for or die for. Rev 12:11 says this “They overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony AND they loved not their lives unto death.
God has placed a burden in my heart to share words of inspiration that give others hope and I pray “sets them free” in some way or another. I’ve had a few attacks and opposing responses I believe as a result of personal conviction to the things God has given me. God didn’t promise me sunny days always but as long as I can be a light to those seeking it, then everything I endure is worth it to me!
